Every year Anton Bruckner Gymnasium has the opportunity to welcome an English assistant teacher.
English assistant teachers are provided by The British Council, an international cultural relations body based in the UK. He or she is always a native speaker of English and is usually a university student aged around 19-22, studying German in the UK.
The English Assistant has a special role in school. He or she provides us with their cultural expertise and authentic teaching materials from the USA or the UK. In addition to this, they hold conversation lessons with our students of all ages, aid teachers with their lessons and act almost like our “human dictionary”!
English Assistant 2010-2011: Adrienne Stockley
Adrienne Stockley is the language assistant for this school year at both Anton-Bruckner Gymnasium and St. Josef Volksschule. She is currently studying German and Psychology as an undergraduate at Aston University in Birmingham. She comes from a small town called Bexhill on the south coast and therefore has a very ‘plain’ English accent which is hopefully easy to understand for the pupils! Before University she spent 7 years at Christs Hospital boarding school in West Sussex in order to complete GCSE’s and A levels.
