Liz Allen (English Assistant 2009-2010)

Elizabeth Allen was returning to us after completing her studies in French, German, Slovene and Dutch at The University of Nottingham. She was also our Assistant in 2007-2008. Elizabeth was from South Yorkshire, England and therefore spoke with a northern accent, this sounded very funny for our pupils to listen to at the beginning! But they became accustomed to her slight accent and finally did not have any difficulty in understanding her. Elizabeth worked on various topics with pupils of all ages at Anton-Bruckner as well as at St. Josef Volksschule, for example the UK German Connection.

UK German Connection

UK German Connection was launched in 2004 by Federal Minister Fischer and Foreign Secretary Straw and has the aim to strengthen the link between the UK and Germany. The organisation works with school and youth groups in both countries to help children and students learn about the different culture and language of the other country.

Pupils from Q11 have been involved in this joint project. Our school is partnered with South Cheshire College in Crewe and together we help each other learn about our different cultures and languages. This virtual partnership has been very promising and has allowed us to look further into certain aspects of British culture and also has given our pupils the opportunity to have a real life English friend!
